Dave Lister, a laid-back technician from Liverpool, wakes from suspended animation to find that a radiation disaster has wiped out the crew of the mining vessel Red Dwarf and thrown him three million years into the future. Believing himself to be the last human alive, he is forced to voyage through deep space with a bizarre household: Holly, the ship’s increasingly dotty computer; Arnold Rimmer, the pompous hologram of his former bunkmate; Cat, a vain, humanoid descendant of Lister’s pet cat; and Kryten, a neurotic service mechanoid. Together this mismatched crew drift through absurd, often darkly comic sci-fi misadventures as they search for meaning, company, and the occasional curry.
