After a bombing in North Africa kills an American, Egyptian-born chemical engineer Anwar El-Ibrahimi is detained while flying home from South Africa and quietly sent to a secret detention facility outside the U.S. His wife, Isabella, desperately tries to discover what happened to him, while a CIA analyst assigned to observe the interrogation is forced to confront the morality of the harsh, unorthodox methods being used. The film examines the human and political fallout of extraordinary rendition, secrecy, and the pressure placed on individuals within the security apparatus.
