After spending years in prison for armed robbery, Jake Blues is released for good behavior. He goes out of prison dressed the same way he went in: suit and black hat and dark glasses. Dressed the same way, he is expected at the prison door by his brother Elwood, who informs him that the only home they knew, St. Helena orphanage, has the risk of disappearing for economic reasons.
