Lee Chandler (Casey Affleck) is a lonely in charge of maintenance of Boston buildings who is forced to return to his small hometown after learning that his brother Joe has died. There he meets his 16 -year -old nephew, who will have to take care. Suddenly, Lee will be forced to face a tragic past that led him to separate from his wife Randi (Michelle Williams) and the community in which he was born and grew.
