A hapless human test subject is trapped aboard the Satellite of Love by a pair of eccentric mad scientists who force him to watch a steady stream of gloriously awful B-movies. To keep from losing his mind he builds a crew of wisecracking robot companions—most famously Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot (with Cambot and Gypsy providing the show-within-a-show mechanics)—and the group spends each episode riffing on the film with fast, snappy jokes and comic sketches. Originally starring Joel Robinson and later Mike Nelson as the human lead, with antagonists like Dr. Clayton Forrester and TV’s Frank, Mystery Science Theater 3000 ran for many seasons, spawned a feature film and became a cult classic for its inventive, affectionate lampooning of bad cinema.
