Josh Futturman is a directionless daytime janitor who moonlights as the world’s top player of a violent video game called Cybergeddon. After finally beating the game, he’s visited by its on-screen heroes—who reveal the game was actually a training program—and recruited to travel through time to stop a looming superhuman invasion and prevent humanity’s extinction. Socially awkward and out of his depth, Josh must learn to become a real-life hero alongside his unlikely allies as they race to change the future.
