When single mother Karen Barclay buys her six-year-old son Andy the must-have "Good Guy" doll for his birthday, the seemingly harmless toy hides a terrifying truth: it’s inhabited by the spirit of a recently slain serial killer, Charles Lee Ray. Using dark magic to survive, the killer now prowls the city through the doll — dubbed Chucky — and a string of brutal murders soon follows. Andy is the only one who recognizes the doll’s violence, but his warnings are dismissed by adults and the police until a hardened detective tied to the killer’s past begins to investigate. As Chucky tries to escape his plastic body by transferring into a human, Karen and Andy race to stop the doll before it completes its sinister plan.
