Touching the Void dramatizes the true 1985 climb of the west face of Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes and the harrowing aftermath when the expedition goes wrong. After reaching the summit, Joe Simpson breaks his leg on the descent and, lowered slowly by his partner Simon Yates, is accidentally dropped into a crevasse.
