Soul Eater follows the students of the Death Weapon Meister Academy (DWMA), where each team pairs a meister with a human who can transform into a weapon. To qualify their weapons as "Death Scythes" for use by the Shinigami, the teams must gather ninety‑nine corrupted human souls and one witch soul.
