Mystic River tracks three men from a blue-collar Boston neighborhood whose lives are scarred by a violent episode in their youth. As boys they were inseparable, but when one of them, Dave, is abducted and assaulted, the aftermath haunts him into adulthood and drives a wedge through their friendship.
Decades later the men are pulled back together when Jimmy’s teenage daughter is found dead. Sean, now a homicide detective, is assigned to the case; Dave becomes a person of interest; and Jimmy, an ex-con and devastated father, is determined to find the killer on his own. As the investigation unfolds, buried secrets and old wounds resurface, testing loyalties and exposing how trauma, grief and the desire for revenge can destroy families and reshape lives.
