He infiltrates the butcher’s circle and rises through the violence, but his quest for personal revenge becomes entangled with wider gang warfare and the struggle of immigrant communities to claim a place in New York. The film follows Amsterdam’s transformation amid bloodshed, politics and the fight for the city’s future.
