In 1987 a damaged Autobot scout crash-lands on Earth and hides in a seaside California junkyard, disguised as a battered yellow Volkswagen Beetle. Charlie, an almost-18-year-old searching for herself, discovers and brings the broken robot back to life, forming an unlikely friendship as the pair face pursuing Decepticons and a secret government agency. With the Autobot’s memory and voice crippled, Charlie must help him heal while they both learn what it means to belong and protect one another.
