Donnie Darko (2001) Netflix

Donnie Darko

Donnie Darko follows a bright but troubled teen who, after sleepwalking out of his house one night, narrowly avoids a bizarre accident when a jet engine smashes into his bedroom. In the aftermath he begins seeing a giant, unsettling rabbit called Frank, who tells him the world will end in twenty-eight days and pushes him into increasingly destructive and mysterious acts. As Donnie falls for a new girl, clashes with authority, and works with a sympathetic psychiatrist, he becomes obsessed with the possibility of time travel and the nature of his own sanity. Equal parts suburban drama, psychological thriller and speculative mystery, the film blurs the line between prophecy and psychosis as Donnie races toward an uncertain fate.
