The Negotiator (1998) Netflix
Danny Roman, a top-flight hostage negotiator for the Chicago police, finds himself accused of embezzling department funds and murdering a fellow officer. Convinced he’s been framed, he seizes the Internal Affairs office and holds employees hostage to buy time to find the evidence that will clear his name. Roman demands that another respected negotiator, Chris Sabian, be brought in — both to talk him down and to quietly help uncover the conspiracy. As tactical units push for a violent resolution and pressure mounts from within the department, Sabian must reconcile his aversion to force with the need to get to the truth before Roman’s gamble ends in tragedy.
