In the near future, an oppressive mechanized police force is responsible for patrolling the crime. But the people are revealing themselves to it. When Chappie, an android policeman, is stolen and reprogrammed, becomes the first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. This makes powerful and destructive forces begin to perceive Chappie as a threat to humanity and order, and will not stop at anything to maintain the status quo and make sure that Chappie is the last of its kind.
