Falling Down (1993) Netflix

On a sweltering Los Angeles morning, William "D-Fens" Foster — a divorced, unemployed defense engineer — abandons his stalled car in a traffic jam and sets out on foot to see his estranged daughter on her birthday. What begins as a frustrated attempt to get home spirals into a series of increasingly violent encounters: a combustible dispute in a corner store, a clash with gang members, and the arming of himself after a crash. Identified by the license plate on his car, D-FENS attracts the attention of retiring police sergeant Martin Prendergast, who follows the trail of mayhem as Foster’s quest for vindication turns into a dangerous, unhinged odyssey. The film probes themes of alienation, social decay and the explosive consequences of a man pushed past his breaking point.
