When Hana, who fell in love as a teenager with a mysterious "wolf man," is left alone after his death in a hunting accident, she must raise their two children on her own. Their daughter Yuki and son Ame inherit the ability to shift between human and wolf, so Hana moves the family to the countryside to give them a quieter, safer life and to keep their secret. The story follows more than a decade of parenting, as Hana struggles to balance protection, freedom and normalcy while Yuki and Ame grow up and must each decide whether they belong with people or with the wild.
