Ichigo Kurosaki is a teenager who has been able to see spirits since childhood. His life changes when he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who fights monstrous Hollows; after she is wounded in battle, Rukia transfers her powers to Ichigo so he can protect his family. Thrust into the role of a Soul Reaper, Ichigo must learn to use his new abilities, confront malevolent spirits, and help maintain the balance between the world of the living and the afterlife.
