In Tokyo there are mysterious murders committed by Ghouls, unknown beings who eat human flesh, one day Kaneki Ken, an 18-year-old who studies college meets a girl in a restaurant and invites her out, but then realizes that she is a Ghoul and suffers an attack from her, but fortunately survives and the girl dies; because of her wounds doctors make her a kidney transplant without knowing that the girl was a Ghoul and Kaneki ends up becoming a human-ghoul hybrid and from now on she will have to live hiding from humans.
