Jack (DiCaprio), a young artist, wins in a card game a ticket to travel to America on the Titanic, the largest and safest ocean liner ever built. On board he meets Rose (Kate Winslet), a young woman from a well-to-do family who comes unless she is going to marry Cal (Billy Zane), a boastful millionaire who is only interested in his fiancée's prestigious last name. Jack and Rose fall in love, but his fiancé and his mother put all kinds of obstacles in their relationship. Meanwhile, the gigantic and luxurious ocean liner approaches a huge iceberg.
