In the early 1970s in Colorado Springs, rookie detective Ron Stallworth becomes the department’s first Black police officer and sets out to take on a growing wave of white supremacy in his city. Using a combination of phone calls and careful subterfuge, Stallworth manages to coax his local Ku Klux Klan chapter into revealing itself — then recruits his white Jewish colleague, Flip Zimmerman, to attend in-person meetings while Stallworth handles the voice-contact. As the two men dig deeper, their covert operation exposes the Klan’s plans and forces both officers to confront the risks, prejudices, and contradictions of law enforcement and identity. Based on true events, the story mixes tense undercover work with sharp social commentary about racism, activism, and moral courage.
