Year 1967. Susanna Kaysen, like most girls of her age, feels confusing, insecure and struggle to understand the world that surrounds her. After diagnosing a personality disorder, her psychiatrist decides to enter the Claymoore hospital. There, Susanna meets Lisa, Georgina, Polly and Janet, a group of misfit girls with whom she starts a close friendship and who also shows her the way to find herself.
