Set two years after the Fourth Great Ninja War, a new and cosmic threat emerges when the moon begins drifting toward Earth, risking catastrophic impact. The crisis is driven by Toneri Otsutsuki, a descendant of the ancient Otsutsuki line, who believes humanity must be punished and targets the Hyūga clan as part of his plan.
When Toneri attempts to take Hinata Hyūga, he instead abducts her younger sister Hanabi. Naruto, Hinata and their friends mount a daring rescue mission that soon escalates into a fight to stop the moon itself. Along the way Naruto must confront his doubts, cope with losing a recent source of overwhelming power, and come to terms with his growing love for Hinata.
