Obsessed with the search for an original mathematical idea, the brilliant student John Forbes Nash (Russell Crowe) arrived in Princeton in 1947 to pursue his postgraduate studies. He is a strange and lonely boy, who only understands his roommate (Paul Bettany). Finally, Nash outlines a revolutionary theory and gets a teaching position at MIT. Alicia Lardé (Jennifer Connelly), one of his students, leaves him fascinated by showing that the laws of love are above those of mathematics. Thanks to his prodigious ability to decipher codes he is recruited by Parcher William (Ed Harris), from the Department of Defense, to help the United States in the Cold War against the Soviet Union.
