Kate, a former tornado chaser turned meteorologist who was scarred by a past tornado tragedy, has traded the open plains for a safer life analyzing storms from an office in New York. When her old friend Javi persuades her to come back to Oklahoma for a week to test a bold new tracking system, she reluctantly returns to the field. There she clashes and then collides with Tyler Owens, a reckless social-media celebrity who chases ever-more-dangerous storms for his audience. As storm season escalates, unprecedented and frightening phenomena arise, and Kate, Tyler and their rival teams must confront multiple massive systems converging over central Oklahoma — a desperate struggle to survive and to understand the storms before it’s too late.
