Gangs of New York (2002) Netflix

It's 1863 and Lower Manhattan's Five Points is a battleground of gangs, corruption and anti-immigrant sentiment as the Civil War and forced conscription tear the city apart. Amsterdam Vallon, an Irish-American whose father was murdered years earlier by the ruthless nativist leader Bill "The Butcher" Cutting, returns determined to settle the score. He infiltrates the butcher’s circle and rises through the violence, but his quest for personal revenge becomes entangled with wider gang warfare and the struggle of immigrant communities to claim a place in New York. The film follows Amsterdam’s transformation amid bloodshed, politics and the fight for the city’s future.
