The Help (2011) Netflix

Set in early 1960s Jackson, Mississippi, The Help follows Skeeter Phelan, a young white woman fresh from college who returns home determined to become a writer. Troubled by the disappearance of the longtime family maid who raised her and by the everyday cruelties suffered by the black women who care for white households, Skeeter decides to document their stories for a book.
She convinces Aibileen, a quiet, thoughtful maid grieving her own loss, to speak first, and soon Aibileen’s outspoken friend Minny — who has repeatedly clashed with racist employers — joins the effort. As more domestic workers agree to share the realities of their lives, the project exposes humiliations large and small, including a campaign to bar black help from using white families’ bathrooms.
Their secret collaboration forges unlikely friendships and a new solidarity across racial lines, but it also threatens reputations and social standing in a town deeply invested in segregation. The resulting publication and its fallout begin to change lives and unsettle the comfortable order of Jackson.
