The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012) Netflix
The exuberantly bearded Pirate Captain is a wildly confident — if chronically unlucky — seafarer whose greatest ambition is to finally win the coveted Pirate of the Year Award. Alongside his motley crew he sets off from the shores of exotic Blood Island and winds up in foggy, Victorian London, racing against fierce rivals like Black Bellamy, Cutlass Liz and Peg Leg Hastings. Their misadventures bring them into the orbit of a lovesick young naturalist, a mysterious "parrot" that may not be what it seems, and a pompous Queen whose plans threaten them all. Packed with slapstick, heart and swashbuckling chaos, the Captain must decide whether glory is worth betraying the friends who stuck by him.
