Brad Whitaker is a well-meaning, mild-mannered radio executive who’s determined to be the best stepfather he can be to his wife Sarah’s two children. His peaceful household is thrown into chaos when the kids’ charismatic, hypermasculine biological dad, Dusty, drops back into their lives, triggering a series of one-upmanships and escalating antics. The resulting “dad war" mixes awkward bonding attempts, over-the-top stunts and heartfelt moments as both men vie for the children’s affection and the film asks what it really takes to be a good father.
