Victor, a troubled young deliveryman, becomes obsessed with Elena, a beautiful drug addict he briefly slept with. When an increasingly aggressive confrontation at her apartment draws two police officers, a struggle ends with an accidental gunshot that leaves the younger officer, David, paralyzed. Years later David — now a wheelchair basketball player married to Elena — must confront the fallout when Victor is released from prison and re-enters their lives, unraveling secrets, loyalties and long-buried resentments.
