Henry Morgan is an enigmatic man who has lived for two centuries and still has no answer for why he never stays dead. By day he works as a medical examiner in New York City, using his access to the dead and his vast experience to help solve crimes alongside Detective Jo Martinez, while privately hunting for the key to end his apparent curse. Only a handful of people — including his son Abe and a mysterious long-lived man named Adam — know the truth about his repeated deaths and resurrections (he always returns naked in the nearest body of water). Torn between the weight of his past and the search for a future, Henry tries to protect his secret even as he navigates relationships, loss, and the moral questions of immortality.
