Dalton has a doctorate in philosophy, but he has chosen to make a living as a vigilante of alternate premises, a very well paid profession. Hired to maintain order in the Double Duce in Jasper, Missouri, he is injured in his first night in the premises and is treated by "Doc" Clay, a beautiful doctor of the town. He immediately falls in love with her, but there is another man who gets between the two: Brad Wesley, an extortionist and mafia capo.
