The Inbetweeners (2008) Netflix

The Inbetweeners

The Inbetweeners is a British coming-of-age sitcom about four awkward teenagers navigating the final years of school and the messy step toward adulthood. When straight-laced Will joins Rudge Park Comprehensive’s sixth form, he falls in with longtime pals Simon, Jay and Neil — a mismatched group whose plans for booze, girls and the freedom of grown-up life almost always go awry. Simon is hopelessly fixated on winning over his crush Carli; Jay compensates for his insecurity with outrageous boasts about his sex life; and good-natured but slow-to-grasp Neil lags behind the others’ schemes. The show mines the embarrassment of adolescence with crude, blunt humor: failed romantic attempts, disastrous nights out, family awkwardness and run-ins with bullies and a sardonic head of sixth form. Airing 2008–2010, it ran for three series (18 episodes) and is known for its frank, painfully funny look at teenage life.
