Set in the San Fernando Valley of the late 1970s and moving into the early 1980s, Boogie Nights follows idealistic adult‑film director Jack Horner, who believes pornography can be crafted as art. He discovers Eddie Adams, a wide‑eyed young busboy with striking looks, renames him Dirk Diggler and ushers him into an extended circle of performers, crew and hangers‑on.
