At 35 years old, Mike (Matthew Perry) has not achieved the success that everyone expected when he was the star of the basketball team and the one who flirted with the most beautiful girls. After 18 years selling pharmaceuticals, he hasn't managed to get promoted at work, he doesn't have a good relationship with his two children and he has just separated from his wife (Leslie Mann). One stormy night, Mike sees the janitor from his high school about to jump off a bridge. He then stops his car to prevent suicide, but when he reaches the bridge, the man has disappeared and falls into the river. When he arrives at his friend Ned's (Thomas Lennon) house the next morning, he realizes that he's back to being a 17-year-old (Zac Efron).
