Each season will deal with political rivalries and personal intrigues during a decade of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and explore the delicate balance between her private and public life. The first season begins with a 25-year-old princess facing the overwhelming task of leading the world's most famous monarchy, while at the same time forging a relationship with a dominant war-torned Prime Minister: Winston Churchill.
