The Kite Runner (2007) Netflix

The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner follows the intertwined lives of two boys growing up in a peaceful Kabul of the 1970s: Amir, the privileged Pashtun son of a respected father, and Hassan, the loyal Hazara son of their household servant. Their bond is sealed by kite-flying contests and childhood games, but a violent act witnessed by Amir — and his failure to intervene — shatters their friendship and leaves him burdened with guilt.

After the Soviet invasion, Amir and his father flee to the United States, where Amir later becomes a writer, marries, and builds a new life while the past quietly haunts him. Years later, a summons from Rahim Khan draws Amir back to a very different Afghanistan, now under Taliban rule, and forces him to confront long-buried secrets about loyalty, family, and the consequences of his choices.

What follows is a dangerous journey to make amends: Amir must face old enemies and the legacy of his betrayal in order to rescue the son of his childhood friend and seek the redemption that has eluded him for decades. The film is a moving exploration of friendship, shame, and the difficult path toward forgiveness.
