The penguins, who like everyone knows how they invented surfing, are faced in a risky and spectacular competition: the "World Cup of Penguin Surfing." Penguin teenager Rockhopper, Cody Maverick, is a budding surfer who introduces himself to his first professional competition. Followed by a camera crew to document his experiences, Cody leaves his family and home in Shiverpool, Antarctica, to travel to Pen Gu Island for the Big Z Memory Surf Championship. On the way, Cody meets Sheboygan surfer, Chicken Joe, the famous surfer Reggie Belafonte, the surfer Mikey Abromowitz, and the energetic vigilante Lani Aliikai, who recognize Cody's passion for surfing, even though he is sometimes a little misdirected. Cody believes that this will win him the admiration and respect he wants, but when he unexpectedly faces an old finish surfer, Cody begins to find his own way...
