Glen Hansard is a singer and songwriter who plays his songs through the streets of Dublin, when he is not working in his father's store. During the day, to earn some extra money, he interprets well -known issues for passersby, but at night, he plays his own songs in which he talks about how his girlfriend left him. His talent does not go unnoticed by Marketa Irglova, a Czech immigrant who sells flowers in the street. She has not been lucky in love either and, to feel a little better, she writes songs on the subject, but, unlike Glen, she never interprets them in public. Glen and Marketa, end up suddenly doing a duet in a music store, and it will be then when they discover that something unites them ...
