Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippopotamus are determined to return anyway to the Central Park Zoo in New York. After leaving Africa, they take a detour and emerge, literally, in Europe, chasing the penguins and chimpanzees who have managed to jump off the Monte-Carlo casino bank. Soon, the animals are discovered by Captain Chantel DuBois, a French stubborn animal control officer, and who does not like anything that zoo animals roam loose around their city.
