Ten years have passed since Lecter, after his interview with FBI agent Clarice Starling, escaped from the maximum security hospital in which he was confined. He now lives in Italy, but Starling has not been able to forget him: his cold voice continues to echo in his dreams. Mason Verger also remembers Lecter: he was his sixth victim and, despite being horribly disfigured, he managed to survive.
