Control is a haunting biopic of Ian Curtis, the introverted singer-songwriter who rose from a working-class youth in 1970s England to front Joy Division. The film follows his transformation from Bowie‑obsessed teenager into a charismatic, driven performer as the band gains acclaim, while his private life unravels: an early marriage and young daughter, a consuming affair, and the strain of relentless touring. Plagued by severe epilepsy and ineffective treatment, Curtis wrestles with guilt, depression and the demands of fame. The movie traces how those mounting pressures ultimately culminated in his tragic death on the eve of the band's first U.S. tour.
