When young Mikey Walsh digs up an old map in his attic, he and a ragtag band of neighborhood kids—his older brother Brand and friends Data, Chunk, Mouth, Andy and Stef—set off on an urgent quest to raise the money needed to save their homes from developers. The map points to the legendary loot of the pirate One-Eyed Willy, buried somewhere beneath their coastal Oregon town.
Their search leads them through hidden passages, an underground maze full of clever booby traps and skeletons, and into conflict with the ruthless Fratelli crime family, who are also hot on the trail. Along the way the Goonies must rely on friendship, quick thinking and a surprising ally to try to beat the crooks to the treasure and rescue their neighborhood in this adventurous 1980s coming-of-age classic.
