Middle Ages, 14th century. William is a young plebeian extraordinarily equipped for fair and tournaments. After the sudden death of his teacher, he posed as a noble gentleman and leads an adventurous life with his friends and squires Roland and Wat. On one of his trips, he meets Chaucer, a writer who creates for him a family tree that justifies the noble title he has appropriated.
