Although Norman (Craig Sheffer) and Paul Mclean (Brad Pitt), children of a Protestant pastor, received a rigid education, they also enjoyed freedom. Norman, a wise and reserved young man, is a teacher and is in love. Paul, on the other hand, is extroverted, he is devoted to journalism and leads a disordered life. However, there is something that will always keep them together: the wild river that crosses Montana, where they learned to fish.
